Tikal Sak Luk is an ideal stop before and after visiting Tikal. Located in El Remate, just 30 km from the Maya ruins, it offers a peaceful, friendly, affordable and relaxed atmosphere for travelers who love nature, good food and maya mysticism.
We offer 9 different rooms for all tastes: From traditional bungalows with private bathroom to shared rooms and open space rooms with a view over the lake. Our rooms are decorated with murals that depict the maya and life in the country side and have private baths with hot water showers, mosquito nets, fans and can accomodate between 3 to 6 people per room. Our services also include dinning (italian food is our specialty), currency exchange, guided tours and bus tickets.
Transportation
Since all transportation in route to Tikal passes through El Remate, it is easy to travel to or from Flores and Tikal by taxi or one of the many minibuses which are in constant transit between both locations. Tourist buses in route to Flores from Chetumal, Mexico and Belize also arrive and depart from El Remate twice daily.
Just take a bus to El Remate and ask the driver to drop you off at Tikal Sak Luk.

Our Story
Designed and built by the guatemalan sculptor Erwin Bendfeldt -a spiritual, worldly and eccentric soul. After working many years in Tikal National Park he dreamed and prayed for a way to stay and make Peten his home. He is a man who sees the beauty in everything and is a nurturer in his heart. He can provide you with a lot of information, suggestions and personal connections you might need during your stay or local traveling.
You might find him sculpting clay or painting a canvas while listening to Beethoven or Vivaldi or some modern music from the US or France. There is an incredible natural view of the lake from where you eat and your eyes will capture the many pieces of art work all created by Erwin. You´ll feel welcome and at home in this colorful, bohemian hideaway.
